Terms of Use

Last updated: October 2026. ShelfVerdict is operated by CLEARDEAL LLC ("we", "us"). By using this site you accept these terms.

What the tools are

ShelfVerdict provides woodworking planning calculators and project-checking tools. Results are computed from published reference data (principally the USDA Wood Handbook) using standard published formulas. Wood is a natural material: actual boards vary from published averages, and results are estimates for planning — not guarantees about any specific board, joint or finished piece, and not a substitute for engineering review where a structure must carry people or meet a code.

The paid kit

The Design-Checked Project Kit is a one-time purchase delivered as browser-based software. It runs in your browser and stores your projects on your own device (browser local storage); we do not receive or store your project data on our servers. Clearing your browser storage deletes saved projects. Keep a printed pack of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Acceptable use

Use the tools for your own woodworking planning. Do not scrape the species dataset in bulk, misrepresent our computed results as your own certified engineering, or use the site in ways that break the law or burden the service.

Liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, our liability for anything arising from use of this site is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Build safely: test-load shelving before trusting it with weight that could injure someone if it failed.
